Where the role fits in our organisation

Resources and Development Our Resources and Development Group are responsible for many of our organisational services and policies, including finance, income, governance, legal, people and performance. The team includes Lead Officers, Development Officers, Support Officers, Coordinators and professional advisors working together to build a high performing, effective organisation and a great place to work.

Where you’ll work

Hybrid – flexible between home and our offices in Dumfries and/or Stranraer

Contract type and hours

Permanent, 35 hours (willing to consider reduced hours options)

Full-time equivalent salary (FTE is 35 hours)

£32,100

What You'll Do

We are looking for a finance leader who is passionate about financial planning, management and reporting. The successful candidate is likely to have sound experience of finance processing and management, with a knowledge of good practice and policy and the ability to apply those skills to our wider resource planning. You may also have experience in other relevant areas of organisation development, including governance or workplace practice. Ideally the post holder will have worked in, or have an understanding of, the third sector, although development support will be available.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and manage the organisations financial management policies to ensure application and governance of planning, reporting, processing, purchasing and delegations.
• Coordinate the building of the annual and long-term budget with the Chief Executive Officer in line with business and development planning.
• Oversee contract management for facilities and other services.
• Develop an internal financial progress review/reporting mechanism with Lead Officers and the Leadership Group.
• Be accountable for established finance and HR systems and their use.
• Supported by our professional HR Advisors and Finance and Resources Coordinator, ensure that our policies remain up to date with good practice and in line with legislation.

• You will be able to show examples of effective application of key skills, including organisation and planning, problem solving, building presentations, writing reports.
• You will have had experience of building effective professional relationships inside and outside of your organisation.
• You will be able to demonstrate strong and compassionate leadership of others.
• You will be able to show your commitment to improvement and demonstrating impact.
